What is a mini-facelift?

There are a variety of approaches to the facelift, each with its own merits. The mini-facelift corrects sagging in the mid and lower part of the face, focusing on rejuvenation of the cheeks and jawline. A mini-facelift is best suited to those who don’t show advanced signs of aging yet, have a minimal to moderate amount of facial skin excess, and hope to take preventative measures as they age.

What is the procedure like?

Though this is a surgical procedure, it is not as complex as a standard or deep plane facelift. The mini-facelift in New Orleans is performed in our fully accredited surgical suite, and the patient is put under local anesthesia and an oral sedative or can elect to have IV sedation. When performing any facelift, there are a variety of incisions to choose from; Dr. Miller will discern which is appropriate for you during your consultation. However, the mini-facelift requires much smaller incisions than a full facelift.

In a mini lift, the ligaments that support and limit the movement of the cheeks are not repositioned, reducing recovery time. A mini-facelift is often combined with a brow lift, facial fat transfer, or an upper or lower blepharoplasty. Expertise and reliable results only come with experience, and Dr. Miller has over 25 years worth of consistent, beautiful results.

A subtle touch

The beauty of the mini-facelift is that Dr. Miller can do what he does best - identify the small tweaks necessary to achieve the most complete correction possible. Through his almost thirty years of experience, Dr. Miller understands that oftentimes the most restrained facelift yields the most natural-looking results.

An elegant facial silhouette

One of the most popular reasons patients pursue a mini-facelift is to achieve a streamlined chin silhouette. After a mini-facelift, jowls will be eliminated as well if the patient experiences sagging in that area. The cheeks will have a robust, youthful look and the overall face will look bright and refreshed. Incisions are minimal, and may be totally invisible based on where Dr. Miller places the incisions.

A very manageable recovery

Because this is a less invasive type of facelift, a mini facelift in New Orleans has a shorter recovery time and is less discomforting for the patient during recovery. In about 7-10 days, swelling and bruising subside and the patient can return to light office work and socializing. Prescription medications are available for the first few days of healing if required, and over-the-counter pain medications are suitable after that.

Patients should refrain from strenuous activity until cleared by Dr. Miller. Because every patient is different, Dr. Miller creates a custom postoperative plan that includes a personalized timeline for healing. His office will also schedule follow-up appointments to ensure that the face is healing well.
